How do you turn off the Service Engine light on a 1999 ChevyMonte Carlo?

We took my car to autozone after we went thru a large puddle on Sunday nite and the car is not showing any codes... so basically the light is just stuck on and I want to turn it off.. Does anyone know how to turn it off for this model? It's a champagne 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

the check engine light does not stay on for no reason First are u sure its the check engine light? If it is then there is a code in the system. You may have to take it to a more qualified person i have not had good luck with auto zone. To clear the light you will need a scan tool. A auto shop has a scan tool. Some people say disconnecting the battery will clear the light, but it wont the computer still stores the code.
