Cadillac Problem
Had the car problem 1986 Cadillac Sedan Deville.?
Hi, last night at the movies I was parking the car and was stuck in reverse gear. Dashboard Selector Handle moved from letter to letter (PDRN 1 2 3) but the car wouldnt drive. Keeping in reverse .... So I turned it off .... When I did the car wouldnt start. I know car wont start unless the P or N. .. So Im assuming that the acceleration is still declining. How can I solve the problem? The car electronics works, it just wont start due to the reverse gear. Is there a manual release switch or something? How can I solve the problem!? It is still in Parking Lot movie? Did I break something flavor. I am a new driver so its a learning experience of error of the CAR IS A 1986 Cadillac Sedan Deville Automatic. Thanks! PS. I own a shop, and how it sounds to me, the gear cable came loose, broke, or something in the shifter broke. I do not think this is something you will be able to easily determine, to point to a shop is your best bet. The vehicle has what is a neutral safety switch that will not allow the vehicle to start in gear mentioned. Even if you do start, you can not change gears, so it should be pulled / dragged a shop where it can be considered. You may have to wait for a new cable, since it must be received by the dealer, and many dealers would not stock it. You are probably looking for a day or two for repair due to having to wait for the new cable to come. Glad to help, Good Luck!
